Representative Kucinich will introduce a privileged resolution tomorrow invoking the War Powers Act to force the President to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan this year. This will force Congress to debate the war and our open-ended occupation of Afghanistan.

By forcing a vote on this critical issue just before election season, we can show Washington that this issue is still important to voters. We may not win this vote, but we can build the momentum now that we'll need to win the next one. 

This conflict has ruined too many American and Afghan lives to be swept under the rug.  Rather than a failed military strategy, the U.S. needs to focus on long-term political solutions in the region and invest in Afghan-led aid and development.
