Dear Supporter,

The prospects for Senate ratification of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) improved significantly yesterday as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted to send the treaty to the Senate floor by a vote of 14-4, including support from key Republicans.

Your help was instrumental in securing this vote.  Your help is needed once more to insure ratification.

New START would reduce deployed, US and Russian strategic (long-range) nuclear weapons by 25% each, and restore and strengthen the verification regime that allows U.S. inspectors to monitor Russian nuclear weapons and facilities, ensuring strategic stability between the world's two largest nuclear powers.

Once ratified, New START will help pave the way for progress on other critical nonproliferation efforts, like arms reduction.   While the treaty is a small step, it is a necessary step in our journey towards a world free of nuclear weapons.

Yours in Peace,
