Thank you.  Your contributions, and the actions you have taken as online peace activists over the past year, really make a difference.  With the lame duck session of Congress underway, I need to ask your help again. Can you make a tax deductible contribution in support of Peace Action Education Fund at this critical moment?

There is much to do and little time before the end of the year.

• The Senate will soon decide whether or not to bring the New START Treaty to the floor for ratification.  If they don’t we’ll need an additional 5 Republican votes next year to win ratification.  No easy feat. 
• The President’s deficit commission will release its recommendations on December 1.  Peace Action’s work between December 1 and the President’s State of the Union address will help insure a strong case is made for cutting runaway military spending.  Budget cuts should not come at the expense of our communities and the most vulnerable 
• The President will also send Congress his report on Afghanistan.  Keeping our troops in Afghanistan until 2014 will cost hundreds of billions of dollars and untold human suffering.  Our opposition to this must be swift and effective.

Increasingly, Members of Congress and other decision makers are tracking and responding to email messages you and other Peace Action activists are sending. As the influence of your online activism grows, our prospects for seeing real progress improve, even given the results of the last election.

As the year comes to a close, Peace Action Education Fund is working to ensure your impact and mine are felt as these critical issues are addressed.  Next year, we face a Congress more hostile to our agenda.  We are ready and believe our best efforts today will help us in the year to come.  Any gift you can send today, whether its $15 or $50 will make a difference.
