Dear Supporter,
Thank you for signing our petition to President Obama demanding an end to the war in Afghanistan.
As a member of Peace Action's Online Advocacy Program, you will receive weekly action alerts that give you an opportunity to participate in our ongoing work to end the war in Afghanistan, bring our troops home, promote sensible budget priorities that value human needs over a militarized economy, and secure our freedom from mass destruction.
Together, we can grow this movement and send a clear message to President Obama: Take bolder steps on negotiations and set a timetable for troop withdrawal.
Let's keep up the pressure! Here's how you can help:
1. Print a copy of the petition to President Obama.
2. Collect Signatures.
3. Send 'em in!
The more signatures you gather, the greater our message will be heard! Our mailing address is right on the petition. Peace Action will count up all of the signatures and deliver them to the Obama Administration in time for the troop reduction deadline in July.
Ask your friends, family, and neighbors to sign. Pass the petition around at your school, workplace, or place of worship. If you're a motivated activist, get out there and hit the streets! Shopping centers, movie theatres, and festivals are great places to start.
You can also send the petition to your friends online using this easy form!
Since we launched our petition to President Obama, members of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) leadership, Vice Chairs Donna Brazile and Rep. Mike Honda (CA) and DNC Secretary Alice Germond from WV joined CA Rep.Barbara Lee to submit a resolution on ending the war in Afghanistan. It passed unanimously.
The DNC resolution said "the Democratic Party supports prioritizing job creation and a swift withdrawal of U.S. armed forces and military contractors in Afghanistan which must include a significant and sizable reduction no later than July 2011."
The resolution put the DNC in step with a super majority of people (especially Democrats) who believe the war is not worth fighting.
Let's keep up the pressure! Download a paper version of the petition today!
Humbly for Peace,
Paul Kawika Martin
