Dear Supporter,

On April 4, join labor and the movements for economic and racial justice to honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy on the anniversary of his assassination. Today we must do what Dr King did in 1968. We must march in solidarity with public workers to defend the public services our communities need.

We Are OneWe Are One! is the slogan that grew out of the struggle to oppose Wisconsin Governor Walker’s attempts to cut services and sideline the unions representing public workers. Peace Action Wisconsin and the peace movement marched, rallied and slept in solidarity at the state capitol.

The right wing proposes to gut programs and safeguards that our grandparents, moms, dads and we have fought for. Some of our allies in Congress are not fighting back.

They say we have to “live within our means” because of budget deficits; meanwhile, the Pentagon budget is the highest ever and has doubled in the last 10 years! Sixteen billion dollars a month is spent on the Afghanistan war alone. We must change the Federal spending priorities.

On April 4, we must take a message to State Capitols, City Halls and Congress. Move the money from weapons and wars to fund our communities!

Peace Action has proposals for cuts to the Pentagon budget, which could be made today.

We hope that you will, in solidarity, join the April 4 activities and bring the message that there is a way out. Download a leaflet to help mobilize the political will to change the national spending priorities to provide the funds we need in our communities.

In Solidarity,

Judith LeBlanc
Peace Action Field Organizer
