Dear Supporter,

Rarely do we get the opportunity to see our voices directly impact decisions in Congress. But this week, we're proud to report that your calls to the Senate made a difference!

Thanks to calls from constituents like you, the Merkley-Lee-Udall Senate letter became the largest Senate action towards bringing troops home from Afghanistan since the start of the war.

By taking 5 minutes to call your Senators, you joined with countless other Peace Action activists from across the country to send a clear message to Congress. Together, we've turned the tide in Congress and with the public.

Now, we have just learned that the President will announce his decision tomorrow at 8pm Eastern.

Tune in with us LIVE by following us on Twitter. On Thursday morning, check your email for Peace Action's official response to the President's speech.

Thanks to your calls, over one-fourth of the Senate signed on to the Merkley-Lee-Udall letter calling for a "sizable and sustained reduction of U.S. military forces in Afghanistan, beginning in July 2011."

Did your Senator sign on? To read the full text of the letter and to see if your Senator signed on, check out the Peace Blog.

Last month, the House narrowly voted down amendment to the 2011 National Defense Authorization Act requiring the President to establish a timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan. 204 Representatives voted aye, including a record 26 Republicans - the highest number of votes for withdrawal from Afghanistan since the war's beginning.

Thanks to your calls, the Senate now joins the House in sending a clear signal to the President: it's time to keep your promise. Tune in tomorrow night to see how the President responds.

Your successful efforts have also earned the attention of much of the mainstream media. Check out some of these highlights:

Tune in tomorrow at 8pm EST and watch the President's speech live with us!
