Tell our Senators: End the Afghanistan War!

Send a message TODAY to Senators Kerry and Brown to vote in favor of an amendment to end the war. The money saved by ending the war two years early will free up $200 billion to fund jobs, education, housing, infrastructure, and the environment.

The Senate will vote on amendments to the Defense Authorization bill TODAY (Wednesday!)

If Senator Jeff Merkley's "expedite the drawdown from Afghanistan" amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act makes a strong showing, that could tip the Obama administration towards a faster drawdown.

That would likely save hundreds of American and Afghan lives -- not to mention all the people who wouldn't be physically and psychologically maimed -- and could easily save the U.S. hundreds of billions of dollars, at a time when the alleged need for fiscal austerity is being touted as a reason to cut Social Security benefits and raise the Medicare retirement age.

Featured speakers include Neta Crawford, co-director of Brown University’s Cost of War Project, on the tragedy of American militarism and the cost in lives and dollars of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and Judith LeBlanc, National Organizer for Peace Action, on building campaigns and coalitions to Move the Money from the military to human needs.
