Volunteer Night!
August 18th, 2010
Have you thought about volunteering with WABA but never really got around to doing it? Now is your chance! Typically held on the 1st and 3rd wednesday of each month from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, we invite everyone and anyone to come by the WABA office and help stuff membership packets, and brainstorm future volunteer efforts. Did we mention that we will be providing food and drinks?
WABA volunteer nights are a fun way to get to know other cyclists in the DC area and a simple way to help advocate for better bicycling. Do you have a list of ideas for volunteer opportunities you would like to see us offer? Do you want to play a larger role in helping WABA's advocacy efforts? Now is your chance.

So You Want to be a DC Bike Ambassador?
Wednesday, July 28th, 2010
Well lucky for you, we're actively recruiting volunteer Bike Ambassadors (BAs) to represent WABA and put a smiling face on bicycling. And the next DC Bike Ambassador volunteer orientation is Wednesday, July 28th at 6 PM.
This is a real simple meeting. It's basically a chance for Daniel, our Bike Ambassador to meet volunteers face-to-face and to lay out the BA program for you. Please plan to spend about an hour, and we will provide food. Please RSVP to dcba@waba.org so we know how much pizza to order.
After your orientation, you'll be asked to sign up for one of our FREE Confident City Cycling classes and to commit to helping out at a real live BA event.
And that's it! You'll get a fancy BA T-shirt and you'll be able to help out at any future BA events like Farmers Markets, community events like Columbia Heights Day and BA rides.
Kids Bike Rodeo at the Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest

Volunteers are needed from 9:00am to 12:00pm. To volunteer contact henry@waba.org or call 202-518-0524 X207
Volunteers Needed for Back Roads Century
Sunday, September 19, 2010
The Back Roads Century is one of the premier cycling events in our region, and it takes over 100 volunteers to stage our ride. We're looking for rest stop volunteers to serve food, parking attendants in the morning, SAG drivers to assist cyclists on the road, and more. All of our jobs are a half day or less, therefore you can work and also ride in our event. The best part is that volunteers ride for free, and you'll also receive a free Back Roads Century t-shirt!
Please review the Volunteer page on our website for current job openings and times - http://www.backroadscentury.org/volunteer
To volunteer, use the contact form on our website or contact the event director below, with the volunteer position that interests you.
