Dear Washington, DC WABA Members:
I am writing to ask you to support our campaign for a Complete Streets policy in DC--one that requires District planners and engineers to consider bicycle and pedestrian level-of-service (LOS) whenever roadway projects are undertaken. We began this campaign on Monday through social media, including our Facebook page and new "Quick Release" blog. We are confident that DDOT is aware of this campaign and is taking it seriously. But we need your continued support to show the need for a robust Complete Streets policy.
Please sign WABA's Petition for Complete Streets in DC
As an engaged WABA member, you already know the benefits of Complete Streets for all users of the public right-of-way, including cyclists and pedestrians. You may also know of the economic benefits to neighborhoods enhanced by Complete Streets improvements. Help us show DDOT and the District's decision-makers that we want the added safety, livability, and economic benefits provided by Complete Streets.
For further explanation, please see WABA's "Quick Release" blog entry and the National Complete Streets Coalition website.
We appreciate your lending your voice to our shared effort by signing the petition, as well as your ongoing financial support of WABA's advocacy and education efforts.
Thank you,
Shane Farthing,
Executive Director
