Lincoln Ride
Saturday, February 12th, 2011 at 9:30 AM

Come celebrate Lincoln's birthday with an 18-mile ride visiting his most famous landmarks in the DC area. Starting at Lincoln Memorial, this urban ride will pass by Fort Lincoln, Lincoln Park, and Lincoln Cottage, where he wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. Since this ride will pass through several major streets, this is not for beginning bicyclists and those without much experience in urban biking.

Vasa Ride
Sunday, March 6th, 2011

Join WABA and the Embassy of Sweden in celebrating Sweden's famed ski race and festival, the Vasaloppet, by bike! Jump start your riding season on this fun event, with options for riders of all abilities!

Starting from the Embassy of Sweden building, House of Sweden, bicyclists will duplicate the 56-mile Vasa race with a non-competitive ride through scenic upper Northwest Washington DC and into Montgomery County, MD.

Brita Climate Ride NYC-DC
May 13-17, 2011 

Join the National Bike Ride for Sustainable Solutions Take your message to Washington...by bicycle! Climate Ride is not only a fully-supported, 5-day charitable bike ride, but it's also the one and only multi-day charitable bicycling event that supports green causes.

Proceeds from Climate Ride events support important projects at a collection of nine organizations focused on green jobs, clean energy, climate education, and bicycle infrastructure. WABA is a 2011 Climate Ride beneficiary!

Climate Ride is your chance to learn more about sustainability and the green energy future from our expert speakers, network with others who are passionate about renewables and the climate, and most importantly take action, all while experiencing an exciting cycling adventure through some of the nation's most beautiful countryside.

WABA's Brown Bag Commuting Seminar
In 2011, WABA wants to help you and your coworkers bike to work! If your organization or company is interested in encouraging more bike commuting, WABA's Brown Bag Commuting Seminar that might be just what you're looking for.

The seminar is basically a short version of our popular Confident City Cycling Classes. Designed to be taught over the course of a lunch hour, the basics of safe bicycle commuting, vehicular cycling and route choice are covered. WABA literature such as our Safe Bicycling in the Washington Area, pocket DC Bike Law guides and area bike maps are available free and distributed at the seminars.

Here is the standard Bike Commuting Seminar package:
• Hour-long Bike Commuting Seminar includes safety video and slideshow presentation
• Free literature from WABA and partner organizations about events, safety and special offers
• Free maps for all attendees of DC, Arlington & Alexandria (subject to availability)
• $10 off of a 1-year WABA membership for all attendees
• Free League of American Bicyclists Commuter Manual for all attendees
