Come One, Come All to BikeFest: WABA's Summer Fundraiser!

Fundraising for WABA's Bike Advocacy, Outreach, and Education

Join us underground in Crystal City for WABA's summer  BikeFest Fundraiser & Celebration! Come enjoy an evening of live music and dancing featuring DC's Second String Band and WABA's very own DJ Jennder, as well as live sideshow acts, a silent auction and raffle, carnival-cycle games, palm readings, photobooth and much more!

We want to celebrate a banner year of bicycling with the people and organizations who made it possible. WABA is one of the largest bicycling advocacy organizations in the United States and gains its strength, creativity, and dedication from you, our engaged membership base of bicycle enthusiasts. WABA has been making great strides in the region through our advocacy, outreach and education efforts, and we're hosting this celebration to help keep the momentum growing.

The highlight of the evening will be a showcase of our Bike Build Contest. Three regional bike shops are building custom bikes with only 3 rules - builders can't spend over $250, may use recycled parts, and MUST be as creative as possible! This year's participants include Oasis Bike Works, City Bikes and Papillon Cycles. The audience will crown the region's BikeFest's Best Builder of 2011 with a combination of votes and a live auction, which means three lucky attendees will take home their very own handcrafted bikes made with love from local artisans. We'll have other items up for auction and raffle, including a brand new Trek Allant bike from Revolution Cycles. Check out our facebook page soon for contest pictures and event updates!

All proceeds from the evening will benefit our mission: to create a healthy, more livable region by promoting bicycling for fun, fitness, and affordable transportation; advocating for better bicycling conditions and transportation choices for a healthier environment, and educating children, adults, and motorists about safe bicycling.
