This May 20th you joined over 11,000 fellow regional residents in biking to work. WABA was there with you celebrating, leading convoys, distributing t-shirts and bagels, and showing the region that cycling makes sense.
Now that you've gotten the t-shirt and the bagel, and participated in the largest Bike to Work Day ever in the region, we need you to take the next step to support better bicycling conditions in the region the other 364 days per year. Please become a WABA member today.
You see us at Bike to Work Day each May, and we are happy to invest significant time, energy, and resources each year to ensure that Bike to Work Day is a success. But you may not see the work we do for cyclists every other day of the year.
- We are at the community meetings throughout the region providing input from the cyclist's perspective.
- We are at the DOT's, pushing engineers to make the roadways more bike-friendly.
- We are at the city and county councils seeking to improve laws to protect you on our region's roadways. We are in the elementary schools teaching our neighborhood children how to be safe on the roadways (biking or walking).
- And we are in countless parking lots throughout the region teaching adults how to ride bikes, and how to ride them safely on the streets and trails.
We are glad you joined us at Bike to Work Day to celebrate the year's growth in cycling and the success of these efforts. But now we need your support to ensure that we remain able advocate, on your behalf, for better bicycling in the region throughout the year. Please join WABA today.
Currently, though you attended Bike to Work Day and joined with us in person, you are not a WABA member. I ask you to join today.
We are a small staff working to improve cycling in a large region, and we need your support to keep the momentum moving forward and combat the tendency for regression and "bike backlash."
Today, we know you as a Bike to Work Day cyclist. Show your support for better bicycling year-round by joining WABA today.
