Dear Supporter,

Commuters enjoying the protected 15th St Cycle Tracks. Help us expand the bicycling network including more miles of protected cycle tracks! Support WABA Now!
|
I am writing today to let you know how important you—as a member—are to WABA's success, and to ask for your continued support. While bicycling in the area has improved tremendously over the last few years, we cyclists still have more work to do.
Please support WABA now!
As a WABA member, you can be proud that you have been directly involved in growing the number of commuting cyclists locally by 44% according to the most annual survey, passing laws to keep bicyclists safer, bringing the benefits of a cycling community to underserved parts of our region, and building the infrastructure to make it safer and easier for more and more people to get where they're going by bike. Everything we are able to achieve stems from your support.
Yet as we succeed in making it easier for people to go by bike, the importance of our efforts only
increases. 44% growth in one year is huge. And this is how it happens:
When bikesharing expands, more people ride.
When trails are opened and bike lanes striped, more people ride.
When the roads become safer, more people ride.
When the bicycling community is made more inclusive, more people ride.
But this increase in riders makes even greater the need for better education of drivers and cyclists, better training of law enforcement officers, better laws to protect cyclists, and better facilities to accommodate and encourage the increased ridership.
This means the need for WABA has never been greater. You are well aware that we rely on your financial contributions to keep us able to attend the public meetings, teach the safety classes, fight for legal and enforcement protection, bring cycling to new communities, and continue to push forward with vision of a sustainable, affordable, fun, safe transportation system that embraces biking as a primary component.
To get there, we need your help. There is much work still to be done, and we need your financial support to keep our momentum going and ensure that we remain ready to seek solutions for the challenges faced by bicyclists and to pursue the rights that we all deserve on the roads and the trails of the region and beyond.

Thank you for standing with us, for sharing our vision, and for your generous support.
Sincerely,
Shane Farthing, Executive Director |
