Ride for Responsibility
Saturday, January 28th, 2012, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
18th St NW and Columbia Rd, Adams Morgan
Happy New Year! To ring in 2012 and to showcase WABA's Resolution to Ride Responsibly, we're inviting you to join us for the New Year's Resolution Ride on January 28th. Traditionally, the start of the new calendar year is a time to reflect on the year that is ending and to resolve to make positive changes in the year that is beginning. We at WABA are resolving to ride more responsibly and we want everybody who rides a bike to join us in this effort. This FREE, 6 mile-long social ride will start at 10:00 AM on the corner of 18th St. NW and Columbia Rd. NW, in front of the Capital Bikeshare station. We'll ride through DC's latest bicycle infrastructure and spend some time in pedestrian-friendly areas (Columbia Heights, Chinatown) to showcase our responsible riding. Plan for cooler weather (check out our tips on dressing warmly here) and to spend about an hour riding around the city.
Please read and sign the Resolution

SAVE THE DATE
The 2012 Vasa Ride is Sunday, March 4th
Mark your calendars and break out your ski goggles for the region's first large organized bike ride of the season! The Annual Vasa Ride is WABA's bicycle-themed tribute to Sweden's legendary Vasaloppet, the world's longest running cross country ski race. Held on the first Sunday of March, 400 riders of all ages and experience levels join together for a noncompetitive ride to brave the coldness of winter and traverse DC and Maryland's terrain. Thanks to our gracious hosts at the Swedish Embassy, all finishers will celebrate their feats with a traditional bowl of warm blueberry soup. Registration will open at the beginning of Feburary and be capped at 400 riders. And remember, if it snows bring your skis!
